Some places just need the right people to bring them to life.

When we first walked into Nelson Cafe, we didn’t just see a cafe. We saw what it could become. The bones were there — a great location, a welcoming space, a name that locals already knew. But something was missing. The energy. The warmth. The food and coffee that makes you want to come back the next morning and the one after that. So we took it on. We acquired Nelson, rolled up our sleeves, and got to work building the cafe it always had the potential to be.

We didn’t want to create just another cafe. We wanted to create somewhere that felt like home.

Box Hill is a hard-working neighbourhood. Our regulars are nurses finishing night shifts, doctors grabbing a moment to breathe, families squeezing in a weekend breakfast, and workers who just need a good coffee and a familiar face before the day begins. These are our people. And they deserve more than a transactional experience — they deserve somewhere that genuinely cares.

That’s the standard we hold ourselves to every single day. From the coffee we source and brew, to the dishes we put on the menu — the Korean Chicken & Waffles that surprises people, the Big Breakfast that puts a smile on a tired face, the Avo on Toast that’s just right — everything is made with intention.

We’re not a chain. We’re not trying to be everywhere. We’re focused on being exactly what Box Hill needs — a place that feels like yours, whether you’ve been coming for years or you’re walking through the door for the first time.

Nelson is still growing, still evolving. But the heart of it will never change: great food, honest coffee, and a welcome that means it.
